Epistaxis Precautions

  1. Keep head elevated at least 30 degrees for three days.

  2. Place ice pack on face and sip ice chips if rebleeding occurs.

  3. No nose blowing, gargling, heavy lifting or straining for one week.

  4. Do not take Aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.

  5. Abstain from spicy foods or hot (temperature) foods for one week.

  6. No hot showers for one week.

  7. Abstain from any activity which may elevate the blood pressure for one week.
